What we keep, and why

Last updated 7 October 2026 (shared notes, study circles, crash reports and the optional DuoVa account added)

The short version

Your study data lives on your phone. We collect as little as we can, only to run the feature you asked for, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

In the app

Your progress, notes, images and your own questions are stored on your phone and work offline.

Backups go only where you choose: a file on your phone, or your own Google Drive. DuoVa can see only the backup files it creates there, nothing else in your Drive.

A licence key, if you have one, is stored on your phone and sent with DuoVa Intelligence requests so we can apply your daily allowance.

DuoVa Intelligence

When you paste or photograph a question, or ask "What if…", that text or image is sent to our servers and processed by our AI provider to produce the answer.

Answers are saved and may be shown to anyone who asks the same question, which keeps DuoVa fast and affordable. They are not linked to your name.

To apply daily limits we keep a count per day, per licence or per internet connection.

Sharing a question

Sharing creates a public page for that question. Recall questions stay locked inside the app, and a question you wrote yourself is only shared after you confirm.

Notes you share and study circles

Notes stay on your phone unless you choose "Share with doctors" on one. A shared note shows the name you choose; your licence and email are never shown. DuoVa checks each shared note before others see it, and you can stop sharing at any time.

Study circles are optional. Your doctor profile holds what you enter: name, country, exam and month, and optionally a specialty, a short line about you and whether you are open to research collaboration. Verified members of your circle see it. If you switch on “Open to research collaboration”, other verified DuoVa doctors can also find your card in “Doctors open to research” — never your email, phone or licence.

To verify, you send a screenshot of your exam booking. Only the DuoVa founder sees it, and it is deleted as soon as it has been checked; we keep only that you are verified, for which exam and month. You may cover your candidate number and date of birth.

Posts and challenge scores in a circle are seen by its verified members. You can delete your own posts.

DuoVa account (optional)

If you choose "Sign in with Google", we keep your Google email and name, a Google account id, the phones you signed in on (an install code and the kind of phone) and your licence key, encrypted, so your licence can follow you to a new phone. We never see your Google password, and the account gives DuoVa no access to your Drive or contacts. You can sign a phone out at any time; DuoVa works fully without an account.

Crash reports

When the app hits an error, it sends DuoVa a short technical report so we can fix it: the kind of error, the first line of its message, where in DuoVa's code it happened, the app version and your phone's operating system. It never includes your questions, notes, name, email or licence, and it is not linked to you.

Forms on this website

"Notify me": your email and/or WhatsApp number, the device you want, the question you were reading and a country estimate from your connection. Used only to tell you when DuoVa is ready for your device, then deleted.

"Write for DuoVa": your post, name, qualifications and country (published with your post once reviewed), and your contact details, which stay private and are used only about your post.

Counting visits and downloads

To know whether DuoVa is helping anyone, we count website visits, downloads, shared-question views and app launches. Each count keeps only the time, country, type of device, app version and which link or channel it came from.

No names and no IP addresses are kept. Visitors get a code that changes every day, so we can count people per day but cannot follow anyone over time.

Who handles the data

This website and our servers run on Cloudflare. AI answers are produced by our AI provider. They process data on our behalf and not for their own purposes.

Your choices

You can delete everything in the app by uninstalling it; back up first if you want to keep it. To have anything you gave us through this website removed, message us in our WhatsApp or Telegram study group and we will delete it.
