For doctors from Bangladesh

AMC for Bangladeshi doctors

More Bangladeshi doctors are choosing Australia. The first exam can be sat outside Australia, and the whole route is laid out by the Australian Medical Council and the Medical Board.

Your route from Bangladesh

  • Have your MBBS verified with your university through the AMC.
  • Book the AMC MCQ with Pearson VUE at an available test centre.
  • Plan your English test early — IELTS Academic 7 overall with 6.5 in writing, or OET at the Board’s scores.
  • Then the AMC clinical exam or a workplace-based assessment, and supervised practice in Australia.

Plan the English test first

The English requirement is where many plans stall. Results are valid for two years before you apply for registration, so a test taken while you prepare for the MCQ is usually still valid when you need it.

English requirements in full

  • IELTS Academic: 7 overall, with 7 in listening, reading and speaking and 6.5 in writing (tests taken on or after 23 April 2026).
  • OET: listening 350, reading 360, writing 350, speaking 360.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT are also accepted — check Ahpra for the current scores.
  • A pass in the PLAB test (UK) or NZREX (New Zealand) is also accepted as evidence of English.
  • Results are valid for two years before the date you apply for registration.
